Post-Publication Discussion
Post-Publication Discussion
The International Journal of Economics, Business, and Entrepreneurship (IJEBE) provides opportunities for readers, researchers, and authors to discuss articles that have already been published. Such discussions aim to clarify findings, provide scientific criticism, develop interpretations, and identify issues that may require further editorial action.
1. Scope of Discussion
Discussions may address:
- The accuracy of research methods, analyses, and interpretations of results.
- The consistency of conclusions with the supporting research evidence.
- Relevant literature or perspectives.
- Research limitations and the implications of the findings.
- Errors or suspected violations of publication ethics.
Scientific disagreement does not, in itself, indicate an error or misconduct.
2. How to Submit a Discussion
Readers may submit comments or a Letter to the Editor through the journal's official contact channels or available submission system. Submissions must include:
- The title and DOI or URL of the article being discussed.
- The submitter's identity and contact details for editorial communication.
- A clear explanation of the issue or argument.
- Supporting references or evidence.
- A statement disclosing any relevant conflicts of interest.
Reports of suspected misconduct may be submitted confidentially to the editor. Anonymous reports containing sufficient evidence may also be considered.
3. Ethics of Discussion
Comments must focus on the substance of the article, use professional language, and respect all parties involved. The journal does not accept personal attacks, discrimination, commercial promotion, the disclosure of personal data without an appropriate basis, or allegations unsupported by evidence.
Criticism will not be rejected solely because it contradicts the views of the authors or editors.
4. Editorial Assessment
The editor assesses the relevance, clarity, supporting evidence, and compliance of submitted comments with the ethics of scholarly discussion. The editor may request clarification or revisions or arrange an independent expert review.
Comments deemed suitable for publication may be published as a Letter to the Editor or another form of scholarly correspondence and linked to the article under discussion. Submission of a comment does not guarantee publication.
5. Authors' Right to Respond
Authors of the article will be given an opportunity to respond to criticism or questions within the timeframe specified by the editor. Responses must address the substantive issues raised and provide supporting evidence where necessary.
The absence of an author response does not automatically prevent the publication of an appropriate comment or further editorial action based on the available evidence.
6. Follow-up Actions
If a discussion reveals potential problems with an article, the editor will conduct an investigation in accordance with the journal's policies. Possible actions include clarification, correction, an expression of concern, or article retraction, depending on the nature of the issue and the available evidence.
Substantive changes must not be made silently. Editorial notices must explain the reasons for the action and be linked to the relevant article.
7. Independence and Appeals
Editors with conflicts of interest must not participate in decisions concerning the relevant discussion. Comment submitters or authors may appeal a decision through the journal's official contact channels by providing reasons and additional supporting evidence.
All discussions and reports will be handled fairly, while protecting the confidentiality of sensitive information and maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.
